Tech Integration at RV

Our school district is trying to address some of the challenges that are mentioned in the article. We are having teachers apply to attend Smartboard training and then recieve a Smartboard. They serve as model classrooms on each campus for the next round of Smartboard application period. One area that we will need to ensure that complete is the follow-up portion of the training. We need to ensure that we do not have "one-shot" trainings. We also have a serious challenge in terms of the hardware that is available for students.

It is great that your teachers will receive professional development to use SmartBoards effectively in their classrooms. Like we said today in our discussion, it is so important to make sure teachers are aligning the learning goals with the use of technology.

Hi!

My name is Adam Hunt and I'm one of the interns you'll meet later in the week...just a couple comments... The on-going support is the real key. The classes are of course important to get teachers started but the on-going support can really work to challenge them to find new and more effective uses...perhaps starting up a blog for those teachers is one way to support this. They can post lessons there, and there are many other blog pages on Smartboard use. I'll try and send you a couple links for those.

As for the challenge of getting equipment for students...does your district have a technology plan in place? You may want to look into that...

Adam :)

PS Of course, Smartboards are at their best when students use them too!

Hi again!

Here are a couple blogs dedicated (or at least mostly) to using Smartboards:
http://www.technolote.com/
http://smartboardchat.blogspot.com/
http://smartboards.typepad.com/smartboard/
http://www.whiteboardblog.co.uk/

If I find some other useful ones, I'll pass them your way...
